“In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, ‘Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.’” Matthew 3:1-2 NLT
John’s message to the people of that time is the same message being preached today. For one to repent, we must have a total alteration in our mind and a change in our judgement. We must consider our ways and thoughts, and where we have thought or acted wrong, we must think again and think right. A change of the mind will produce a change in our ways.
When we return to God, He will through Christ, return to us with His mercy. May we be encouraged by this – His plan of salvation. For we do not have the ability to save ourselves, as it is only through Christ and His righteousness, that brings us salvation.

“Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.”
Matthew 3:10 NLT
Reminds me of the message from Sunday and that includes this verse: “that you yourself have planted, this son you have raised for yourself. For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies. May they perish at the sight of your frown.”
Psalms 80:15-16 NLT
When there is no fruit growing, why continue to tend to the crop. It would be better to start fresh. God’s patience is not eternal and warnings have come and judgment will come and those who do not bear fruit will be cast into the flames. Not a pretty picture.
