“They were all filled with awe and praised God. ‘A great prophet has appeared among us,’ they said. ‘God has come to help his people.’” Luke 7:16 NIV
Jesus has been giving us examples of how to live our lives and pointing out various things that are important to God: comfort those in need, to show mercy to others, care for the orphans and widows, to show love towards our enemies, that we should not worry about worldly things, don’t judge others but instead look at ourselves to see what we need to change, to have faith in God, to be obedient to the Law of the Lord, and the list continues.
Jesus does this all for one purpose – to bring glory to God. He never takes the credit and even tells those whom He has healed to tell no one, but to show themselves as a healed body to the priests. When we have been cleansed, it is in our gratefulness and appropriate expressions of thanks to God, not our words, that will bear witness to what the Lord has done.
May we be mindful of our actions and ask ourselves if we are drawing people to praise us or to praise God?

““To what can I compare the people of this generation?” Jesus asked. “How can I describe them? They are like children playing a game in the public square. They complain to their friends, ‘We played wedding songs, and you didn’t dance, so we played funeral songs, and you didn’t weep.’”
Luke 7:31-32 NLT
There is nothing new under the sun. Jesus was talking about the generation he lived in but each one before and dice has the same struggles: we are like children – seeking guidance from those around us, making foolish mistakes, reliant on others. we are complainers- always wanting what we don’t have, complaining often, and acting differ t than expected.
