“He sighed deeply and said, ‘Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.” Mark 8:12 NIV
We tend to ask God for a sign to confirm that we are on the right track. Two things came to mind when reading today’s chapter. The first is, at what point are we asking God to provide a sign after He has already provided one, or two, or maybe even three signs? The second thought is that the Pharisees could not see the initial signs due to their hearts being hardened. So the question is, are our hearts hardened like the Pharisees and therefore even though the truth is visible, we are unable to see it?
The Pharisees were incapable of appreciating Christ’s signs due to their hardened hearts. It was also due to their hardened hearts that Christ denied their request for any additional sign. May our hearts be softened to the leading of the Lord and may we be wise to the path that He lays before us. And may we do this not for our glory, but for the glory of our Heavenly Father.

Yet we still ask for signs 🙈 but maybe there’s a difference between “signs” or “confirmation” that we are moving in the right direction.
The word AGAIN stood out for me: “About this time another large crowd had gathered, and the people ran out of food again. Jesus called his disciples and told them,”
Mark 8:1 NLT
The people were hungry again. The people were sinful again. The people turned from God again. The people needed forgiveness again. This is the common theme of humanity. We are full but then hungry. We try to be perfect but then we fail. We try to follow God completely but then we fall into our sinful desires. We repent but then we fall short again. But the most important AGAIN is they God continues to show His grace and mercy again and again.
