“‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’” Luke 10:41-42 NIV
Being that I am a task oriented individual, I too can find myself relating to Martha in this parable. This parable reminds me that though my tendency is to focus on the task(s) at hand, I need to take the time to be seated, like Mary, at the feet of Christ. The business of the world and day to day tasks can become a snare to us, hinder us from serving God, and feeding our eternal souls.
When we put Christ first, all other tasks will be rightly pursued. The things of this life will be taken away, but nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. May we be mindful then of the one thing needed and be diligent in seeking after that.

So funny that that’s what stuck out for me too: “But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!”
Luke 10:41 NLT
These next few weeks and months will be a crazy busy time. We have lots to worry about, lots of details to work out, and lots of things to get upset over. What a great reminder that God already has it under control and that we should just rest in the knowledge that if he brings us to it, He will bring us through it.
