“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.” John 14:11 NIV
When we do not believe or are in doubt, the most common reply is “show me” or “prove it” to me. Today perhaps, it might even be “I’m going to Google that”. Either way, we want to see the evidence of what another individual is claiming to be true.
The same goes for our claim to Christianity – others want to see proof. Though they may not understand that despite being a Christian we are not perfect, they need to see evidence in our lives that we are still different. Do we exhibit the fruits of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control? Or have we not fully surrendered to all of the desires of the flesh and find ourselves still falling to temptation?
May we be transformed so that our actions and words would accurately and positively display who the Heavenly Father is. Christ died on the cross not because of who he is but because of who his Father is. May we also say the words that Christ spoke in verse 31: “I love the (Heavenly) Father and do exactly what my (Heavenly) Father has commanded me.”

Same thing stood out for me but in a different verse: “I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.”
John 14:29 NLT
People want proof but even when they get it, they don’t believe it. Answered prayers are a fate. Biblical prophecy coming to pass are a coincidence. However, to believers the “proof” is merely supporting our belief not the reason we believe and we also know that answered prayers may not be in the way we desire or prophecy could be still to come.
