Mark 16

“But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him just as he told you.’” Mark 16:7 NIV

In reading this, I found it interesting that Jesus told Mary to tell his disciples and Peter that he had risen. But then again, it was not long ago that Peter had publicly denied Christ three times. I wonder what thoughts were going on in Peter’s head during that time. How terrible he must have felt knowing that he could never take back his words.

Well the words tell his disciples and Peter must have felt like a soothing lotion applied on a fresh sunburn for Peter. It would have been of little importance that another disciples name be listed. But for Peter, he was singled out to receive a word of forgiveness and a summons to meet his Lord. He was offered life from death.

Just as Christ asked for Peter, he also calls out to us. 2 Timothy 1:9 tells us that, “He has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace”.

We do not deserve salvation and we do not deserve eternal life. It is the very fact that that we are so undeserving of these and yet Christ still offers them to us, that we ought to have the desire to live a life pleasing to our Heavenly Father. Not for our glory, but for His.

  1. “On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?””
    ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We can make excuses or we can step out in faith believing that any stones (obstacles) in our way will be moved inHis timing.
