“And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:15-16 NIV
In a day of infliction, nothing is more appropriate than prayer. In this chapter, James is providing argument for the power of prayer along with the placement of faith in our prayer. We can take notice that the healing of the sick is not ascribed to medication or the anointing of oil, but solely upon faithful prayer.
I’m not suggesting that we minimize the importance of daily and persistent prayer; but the faithful prayer being asked of us is not only in the sense of being daily or persistent, but also earnestly believing and expecting the provision of God. It is not enough to simply say a prayer. Our thoughts must be fixed and our desires in the prayer passionate.
May our prayers be sincere and not simply out of routine. May we earnestly pray to the One who answers. In our prayers, may we exercise faith, hope, and expectation in Him, and in the end, attributing all praise and glory his way.

“We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.”
James 5:11 NLT
Reading through the story of Job, the first thought is not likely to be kind, tenderness, or mercy. Job was dealt a severe blow to his family, livelihood, health, and circle. His kids died, his possession erased, body overcome with ailments, and his wife and friends blamed him for his condition. However, the example Job sets in His incredible circumstances is an example and a testimony to His faith in God and where our Faith should be too.
