“Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law…….Well then, if we emphasize faith, does this mean that we can forget about the law? Of course not! In fact, only when we have faith do we truly fulfill the law.” Romans 3:27-28 & 31 NLT
In our everyday lives and in particular when it comes to driving, we have laws that are imposed upon us by the government to keep us safe. We have speed limits, stop signs, and street signal lights. We even have restrictions for how long one can park at specific places, parking spots that are designated as a loading zone, no parking zones, and no stopping zones.
As simple as those signs are to follow, we have all broken at least one of them, and perhaps we have broken all of them. While there may have been times that we “got away with it”, other times we were caught and perhaps even penalized.
The reality is that when we break the law, we deserve punishment. Though we know this, we remain unable to uphold the entire law. Thankfully we can receive grace through our faith in Christ; who knew no sin, yet took on our sin and became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. It is because of His sacrifice that we submit to His rule and it is because of His sacrifice that we have been pardoned. Thank you Jesus.

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.”
Romans 3:23-24 NLT
Everyone falls short. Jews/Gentiles, rich/poor, God’s chosen/God’s enemies, believers/unbelievers, and everyone else. Though we fall short, we are redeemed by Christ and saved from punishment if we would just receive it.
