“They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” 2 Peter 2:19 NLT
There is great danger in not being aware of the false teachers that surround us. They don’t boldly deny the Lord and his Word, but cleverly teach destructive opinions that are contrary to Scripture. They use deception in order to have you believe them, for there will be some truth rooted within their lies. As a cloud hinders the light from the sun, so a false teacher will shade and darken the truth found in the Word of God.
Therefore, as Christians, we ought to keep close to the word of God; being alert and remaining steadfast so that we can stand against those who seek to confuse us.

“They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.”
2 Peter 2:18 NLT
We live in a world where sin is celebrated. Christians are called intolerant and unloving when they point out truth. Many will succumb to the lies the world tells and that is sad but true.
