“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,” Jude 1:20 NLT
There are many references in the Bible to building projects. References of those done in honour of the Lord – such as altars, the tabernacle and the temple, and those done against the Lord’s will – such as the Tower of Babel and altars to pagan gods.
More important is the Bible’s use of building as a metaphor. For the Lord is a builder: of Jerusalem, of the house of David, of the nation of Judah, of our homes, of the church with Christ as the cornerstone, of a place in heaven for us, and of the new Jerusalem.
Christians too are expected to be builders: of our own lives on the foundation of Christ and his word, of the church into a unified body, and of other Christians in love. Therefore, may we work toward the growth of individuals as well as the church into Christlikeness.

“But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction.”
Jude 1:10 NLT
Society preaches, “if it feels good then do it”.
God says, “trust that I have your best interests in mind and if you follow my commands your life will not be in destruction.
“These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them.”
Jude 1:19 NLT
Delayed gratification is a difficult skill to master. Doing what feels good without thought of consequences usually results in trouble. If we humble ourselves in obedience and we have His spirit in us we can fend off any temptation through His strength instead of relying on ourselves.
